Connecting care for
a healthy tomorrow
Alexandra District Health and Eastern Health are exploring a voluntary amalgamation to strengthen local healthcare.
Why is this happening?
The Boards of both organisations believe there may be real benefits in bringing together the strengths of both health services. For Alexandra District Health, this could mean more care and services delivered closer to our patients, new opportunities for staff to train, develop and share expertise across rural and metro settings, and a stronger, more sustainable future. For Eastern Health, it offers a chance to deepen partnerships in the region, ease pressure on hospitals and share specialist knowledge and services with Alexandra and district communities.
Why this matters to you
An amalgamation between Alexandra District Health and Eastern Health is about making it easier for you and your family to get the health care you need, closer to home. In exploring how these health services can work more closely together, we’re looking at ways to expand local services, attract and support skilled health professionals, and reduce the need to travel for specialist care.
Our priority is to strengthen local health care while keeping each community’s identity and trusted services at the heart of what we do. Over the coming month, we’ll be listening to staff and community members living across both service catchments to make sure any potential changes deliver real benefits for local communities.
